Climate Red - News and Views on Climate Change Issues.

the power of the people

October 29th 2008 01:12
The Uk is about to have the toughest Climate Change legislation in the world, one of the engineers of this legislation believes there is one element missing and I agree.

Tapping the power of the people. Yes of course big business needs to change their ways and pay for their pollution but we can forget that collectively we can all do a lot on the community level, whether it is participating in environmental events like National Tree Day or Earth Hour to installing solar hot water at home or simply consuming less. We as individuals also have a lot to contribute. Apologies if I state the obvious.

Here is a link to the article, I could be sarcastic here and say its like the guy has just realised that the plebby masses exist for the first time or something, he is a Lord after all. Anyhow, however he got there his message is good with me.

Now, one word just does not do, no votes you know, you see one word is innumerate, it just doesn't count.

But as I always say to the plebby masses just stop breathing would you? Just think of all that CO2 we'd stop releasing and the air would be an oxygen dense zone. Simple, but If I'd answered simple, it just would not count, the dilemma of climate change, but it does seem that the plebs are well hooked on this one.

Oh, I'm tired, such a long comment, cryptic, too.

hahahaha....I don't know, Louie, you'd be surprised at how many people would read that article and even though it makes perfect sense and it should already be at the back of their minds, they'll say 'Oh yeah, of course!' Many people like having things confirmed in writing, I think.

Too right. I've always wondered why governments everywhere aren't taking the whole "Earth Hour" campaign further and legislating for all those lights in all those tall buildings to be turned off overnight and at weekends.

Louie,

This is a really good point and perhaps where people are concerned, they are so dumbed down by the vary same system, it does indeed need repeating.

PEOPLE NEED TO GET INTERESTED AND INVOLVED.

But you and i well know the monetary system doesn't allow too much time to the average slave, engaged in making a living. Not enough time to protest and push for more govenrment collaboration in solar, wind and geothermal schemes, gadgets.

Yep, like ti or not we are still bound byt he oil cartels until it runs out, and not much we can do about that.

I couldnt access the link and would like to read the article (perhaps I should have before commenting altready? *chuckle*

Lilla ...
