Monday's SUCK..and so does JetStar officially

OK ok I know Monday's sucking is pretty much a given but do they have to be this bad.
Yesterday I was booked on an 8.20am flight to Sydney after spending a weekend with friends on the Gold Coast, as you may or may not know Qantas no longer fly's out of the Gold Coast you have to either go to Brisbane or Fly JetStar....soI rock up to the counter at 7am (I am always early for flight check-ins) and the girl at the counter tells me the flight has been cancelled....it take a few seconds for my mind to digest this information still being in my pre-coffee haze, then I hear her say (by now she has turned into a Dragon in my mind, a big green fire breathing Harry Potter dragon) you didn't leave a contact no. to call you on. Yes I did I say, its compulsory on the online booking form...oh she says oh that's right we did call you but you didn't answer........by now I am getting pissed, so I said look it is pretty academic at this point anyhow I am here; I didn't know you called so what are we going to do (at this stage i was still the only one at the counter) well she says we have a bus for you to go to Brisbane and you can fly out of Brisbane at 12.15.....yes folks five hours later....no I say that doesn't sound very cool, what flights are available here you have flights going all day don't you? They are full she says except 1.15, cool I say I'll take that, my friends just live 10 minutes away .........
I can go back there, work from their place no real damage done. SO the girl starts to change my flight - in the meantime there are now like 20 people behind me and the three guys at the counter next to me are PISSED at being told the same lies as me- but the system is locked so she calls the head office to get them to change it.......next thing you know this guy comes running out of the office and starts abusing my girl who is doing a really good job at appeasing me.....he starts abusing her and telling her that he has locked the system for a reason and no-one is having their flight changed we all have to get the bus to Brisbane and that is that...I mean where am I at school?
SO at this point something snaps and I totally ark up -nothing like having someone who a) gets paid to be yelled at and b) has just dished it out to a really nice person standing in front of you to snap the mind into anger code red - also I should mention I can be really really mean and have made grown men cry before
I did try to be nice to him but he wasn't in the mood, and he just totally goes me when I say, look mate she is helping me resolve this situation, I don't want to get a bus to brisbane I have a lot of work to do today and she is giving me the option with the least disruption to my day.......anyhow he just keeps yelling at me and i basically lost the argument and was treated like a piece of meat and was told i was getting the bus to Brisbane and that was that ......no other alternatives offered.......he seemed to think my day wasn't worth anything.....
and that was it I had to sit there seething, like a piece of trash or a kid on a school excursion, my day in their hands. Of course the bus was late and without telling us they bumped us to the 1.15pm flight, I got back to Sydney at 3pm....day pretty much gone.......not one apology nothing, oh yeah and did i mention when we got to Brissy there was no-one to meet us and the qantas system had gone down and the line for check in was practically down the street....lucky for me I fly a lot and went straight to the Club check in despite the fact I didnt have my card but the girl at the counter must have seen the look on my face because she checked me in without a question............but the rest of the poor people woulda had to stand there waiting forever to check in, I at least got to buy a Mag and sit down with it.
I will be sending them an invoice for my lost day...and I took the managers name and he is going to COP IT ..........
Anyhow, it has to go down as one of the worst monday's ever......Oh yeah did I say why they cancelled the flight.....the plane got struck by lightening...which is a good story because it stopped raining on SATURDAY.......The girl at the counter also told me these things are expected when you fly; you shouldn't rely on planes!!!!! HUH where am I a third world country? Flight cancellations shouldn't really happen on commuter flights honestly, how lame is that line....
whinge box closed.....got 250 emails to open........

oh god, now you know why I absolutely HATE commercial carriers, and why I'd much prefer flying myself somewhere rather than to have to put up with that kind of abuse!
I've long suspected that they get the grumpiest, most mean tempered people to work at ticket counters and check in stations at airtports...

Glad you are back in the land of the living though - even if there was no flight there was a reason why you weren`t supposed to fly at that time so maybe it is a blessing in disguise!

Personally, I'd be happy to pay more for my ticket in exchange for decent service (and I'm not talking about meals, movies and all that), than to be shoved about at airports like live sheep export.
Something some decent competition would fix I think, but as the majority just want cheap flights, the rest have to put up with the crap service that comes with that.
Obviously if the flight was cancelled because of bad weather or a problem with the plane, then I'm happy to wait, or catch a bus rather than go up in it, thanks.

I am SO sick of the lack of customer service culture in our country, particularly when it comes to tranport.
Write a letter, call A Current Affair, tell the Dept of Fair Trading, do whatever you have to do to get your story out there to expose Sh*tStar. I'm sick of it!
