Climate change..its our fault.....More technology means more power

Its all our fault…yes all us Orblers glued to our computer screens all day......demand for high tech devices is now getting the blame for Climate Change. Reports are showing that many new devices actually chew more power than the old devices we are replacing them with AND the fact that we are all using high tech devices more frequently is a main contributor to increased power usage, hence Climate change, not to mention the fact that most of them get made in countries that are yet to care about emissions reductions…….A lot of the increase is due to the fact that we leave these appliances on ….for example our new Plasma screens with set top boxes, well a lot don’t have automatic off switches so effectively we are leaving the
m on all the time…the report I was reading stated that by 2010 in developed countries household technology will contribute to 45% of domestic power use…..seems like a pretty huge figure to me……
I guess it comes down to what we have said all along, we all must remember to do our bit and just thinking about what we do, turning a few power points off every time we think of it can make a big contribution to the reduction of Global warming….
Excitement is building up over the live earth concerts happening around the world this weekend, ironic that most of us will be glued to our TV sets to watch the live footage all weekend…hmmmm I guess those of us that do better buy some offsets, plant a few trees or something……
cheers
