A qoute from Einstein about the Bees
June 8th 2007 00:24
"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."
~ Albert Einstein
EnviroWarrior first introduced the plight of the disappearing bees to us and it scared me a lot. Was just on Leo's website and found this apt quote.
If you want to check out all the info on the plight of the bees here is the link to the Orble story published on the Envirowarrior site. CLICK HERE
After reading the Enviro Warrior story on the Bees I worte a Haiku and a longer Poem I thought I might share with you.
Small fertile nut trees.
Laser straight rows. Waiting.
So, where are all the bees?
Gaia
Our mother earth, fertile playground,
From your belly we venture the adventure of life.
Without thought, we cling.
Starving leeches, blind, we swell,
suck. No predator exists to stop our careless ways,
No predator except ourselves.
We become corporations, bulldozers growing beyond
going beyond all that has come before.
Richer fatter uglier. Blind.
Like an army conquering foreign lands
We rape, pillage, poison
Forgetting that tomorrow
this may be our home, Our wife, our child.
Like you our mother
We nurture our child the precious precocious
dollar, it needs us, our food. Again
We take from your fertile belly. Blind.
In your wisdom you gently warn,
ice caps melt as homeless polar bears drown, floating white reminders.
Empty river beds, scars for our troubles;
bees vanish and buzz no more, no honey for our tea
we don’t hear, Don’t listen
Until you scream as loud as our child that needs to be fed
Finally you say enough
Start taking from where it hurts
Our dollar, our baby
You tell us unless
We are one
Our babies will cry forever
Together we must respect our mother Gaia
Beautiful life force
in darkness we grope
Towards the light
The light that tells us, we are you, you are us
Mother, one and all, a whole that cannot be half
Gaia. Our world. One. Let us see.
