agrichar v charcoal

Don't get them confused.
I was quite distressed to read the opposition leader interchanging agrichar and charcoal in his latest Climate Policy release at the weekend.
Although on paper they are very similar, in compostion and method of production, the two have very different histories and should not be confused.
Agrichar or biochar is produced using recyled feed stock. Charcoal is created by using any kind of wood product, and historically has been a major destroyer of forests and to this day is a mjor cause of violence and human rights violations around the world, particularly in the Virunga National Park, Africa.
The continued production of Charcoal using virgin forest cannot in an yway be condoned.
If you want to learn more about agri-char please see this post I wrote a few months ago. and turned into a spotlight post today. CLICK HERE
cheers

P.S. Obama is hitting the ground running delivering for the environment. Happy Days.
